The Rising Stars Challenge teams are known!

One week away from All-Star Weekend (February 17-19), the various events are being prepared in Salt Lake City. The annual NBA meeting will begin as tradition dictates with the Rising Stars Challenge, a small meeting between the youngest stars of the NBA and G League. All four teams were revealed yesterday…and that’s still some pretty big rosters.

The Vivint Smart Home in Salt Lake City is gearing up to host the mid-season party. The All-Star Weekend will indeed set up shop in Utah in ten days and the Rising Stars Challenge teams have been revealed. This year again, four teams will compete: three teams made up of rookies and sophomores of the league and a team made up of the best players in the G League. The four coaches Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol, Deron Williams and Jason Terry made their draft and chose their players.

Team Noah: Jalen Duren (Pistons), Josh Giddey (Thunder), Quentin Grimes (Knicks), Evan Mobley (Cavaliers), Jabari Smith Jr (Rockets), Jeremy Sochan (Spurs) and Jalen Williams (Thunder).

Jalen Green (Rockets), AJ Griffin (Hawks), Bones Hyland (Nuggets… but until when?), Walker Kessler (Jazz), Trey Murphy III (Pelicans), Alperen Sengun (Rockets) and Franz Wagner (Magic) are the begey of the Deron Williams team.

Pau Gasol as for him picked Jose Alvarado (Pelicans), Paolo Banchero (Magic), Scottie Barnes (Raptors), Jaden Ivey (Pistons), Benedict Mathurin (Pacers), Keegan Murray (Kings) and Andrew Nembhard (Pacers).

Jason Terry will, as expected, lead a team made up of the best elements of the G League, consisting of Scoot Henderson, Mojave King, Kenneth Lofton Jr, Leonard Miller, Mac MacClung, Scottie Pippen Jr. and Frenchie Sidy Cissoko.

As for two years, the new format of the event will pit the four selections against a system ofElam Ending (a certain number of points to be reached). The young cracks will challenge each other in two semi-finals then a final. On the semi-finals, the teams will have to score 40 points, and the first to do so will reach the final. The final will then determine the winner in a 25-point match. Can’t wait for the big party, or not.
