News business Microids to produce games for Taito
Microids and Taito have announced that they have signed a landmark agreement for the production of two game projects.
French publisher and studio Microids, on the strength of its long experience in the industry, has just announced a rare agreement: Skill, a famous Japanese publisher and a subsidiary of Square Enix, allows them to produce two video games based on their franchises. Microids is very active lately, with games that follow one another and taken from very popular franchises: Asterix, XIII, Titeuf, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire ?, Fort Boyard, The Blue Tunics, Blacksad … Once again, they’ve secured the rights to two franchises, which have yet to be disclosed. However, Taito says Microids will “revive” two of their licenses, we can therefore expect that these will be franchises that have been set aside for a while. Both games are already in production, and should be released in the year 2022.
To pursue and diversify our international development strategy, we are proud to collaborate with Taito and delighted with the confidence this Japanese giant has in us through the titles we are developing. We have can’t wait to unveil the two projects we are working on and they will surprise more than one!
Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids.
We have full confidence in Microids to revive two of our licenses through the titles they will be offering in the coming months. Players will be amazed to see return these games to current consoles.
Mr. Katsuhiko Iwaki, President and Managing Director of Taito Corporation.
